The Chartered Governance Professional of the year 2024

We are excited to formally invite nominations for the prestigious Chartered Governance Professional of the Year 2024 award. This annual recognition celebrates an outstanding individual within our professional community who has demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership, and innovation in the field of governance during the year 2024.

This award aims to acknowledge not just competence, but significant contributions that have advanced the practice, understanding, or impact of governance principles. We seek to honour a professional whose work has inspired peers, benefited their organization or the wider community, and upheld the highest standards of the Chartered Governance profession.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Nominee Status: The nominee must be a Chartered Governance Professional (designated by the relevant post-nominal letters) in good standing with The Chartered Governance and Accountancy Institute in Zimbabwe as of the nomination deadline.
  • Contribution: The nominee must have made significant contributions to the ideas, practice, or advancement of the governance profession during the calendar year 2024 . Contributions can take various forms, including but not limited to:
    • Leadership & Excellence: Demonstrating outstanding leadership in a governance role, implementing best practices that led to measurable improvements, or achieving exceptional results for their organization or stakeholders.
    • Innovation & Thought Leadership: Developing innovative governance frameworks, contributing original ideas through publications, research, speaking engagements, or thought leadership that has influenced the profession.
    • Advocacy & Education: Playing a key role in promoting good governance principles, mentoring fellow professionals, contributing to educational initiatives, or advocating for ethical standards and transparency.
    • Impact & Influence: Making a significant positive impact through their governance work on their organization, sector, or the broader Zimbabwean business or public environment.
 

Who Can Nominate:

Nominations are welcome from a variety of sources to ensure broad recognition:

  1. Colleagues & Peers: Fellow professionals who have witnessed the nominee’s contributions firsthand.
  2. Employers & Organizations: Companies, institutions, or organizations where the nominee has served in a governance capacity.
  3. Professional Bodies & Institutions: Other relevant professional organizations.
  4. Self-Nomination: Individuals are strongly encouraged to nominate themselves if they believe they meet the criteria and have made significant contributions.

How to Submit Your Nomination:

To nominate a deserving Chartered Governance Professional, please provide the following:

  1. Nomination Statement: A clear and compelling written statement (maximum 200 words ) outlining the reasons for the nomination. Please focus specifically on the nominee’s significant contributions made during 2024 and how these align with the award’s objectives.
  2. Nominee Information: Please include the full name, professional title (including CG designation), current position/affiliation, and complete contact details (email address and phone number) of the person being nominated.
  3. Nominator Information (if applicable): If nominating someone else, please provide your name, relationship to the nominee (e.g., colleague, employer), and your contact details.

  • Deadline: All nominations must be received by 31 July 2025 . Nominations submitted after this date will not be considered.
